FLINT - The Mott Community College baseball team split a four-game series with Jackson College last week as the regular season nears the end.
The Bears opened the game with a dominant 9-0 win at Jackson on Thursday on the strength of six shutout innings by Conor Sweeny. The effort earned the MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week award for Sweeny.
The Jets evened the series with a 4-2 win in game two. The series shifted to Mott on Sunday with Jackson holding on for an 11-7 win to start the day. Mott earned the split with a 7-5 victory in the finale.
The results moved Mott to 11-20 overall and 11-10 in the MCCAA.
Game One at Jackson Highlights:

Sweeny (2-4) went six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and one walk, while striking out 10.

John LaVallier went 3-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base.
