FLINT - The Mott Community College softball team took control of the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings last week, extending their win streak to seven games.
The Bears posted a doubleheader shutout of St. Clair County Community College on Friday, taking game one 8-0 in five innings and topping the Skippers 4.0 in the finale. The Mott bats stayed hot against Henry Ford College on Sunday, topping the Hawks 11-1 in five innings to open the doubleheader and 14-6 in six innings in game two.
The wins pushed Mott to 28-11 overall and 20-6 in the MCCAA. The Bears are two games ahead of Oakland Community College with four games remaining in the regular season.
The Bears swept the MCCAA Eastern Conference honors with Alexis Hemker named Player of the Week and Arika Hines taking Pitcher of the Week.
Hemker went 15-for-24 at the plate with two triples, eight RBis, 10 runs scored, and a stolen base in six games. Hines pitched in all six games last week, going 5-0. She had four complete games, while allowing just four earned runs in 30 innings, and striking out 25.

Hemker had three hits including a double, adding four RBIs and a run scored.

Carley Hoover added two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.

Brianna Heroux recorded one hit and three runs scored.

Hines (16-7) tossed all five innings without allowing a run on four hits and two walks, while striking out five.
Game Two vs. SC4:

Breana Fantin went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and one RBI.

Heroux hit a home run and a double, recording two RBIs and two runs scored.

Hemker added two hits, including a triple.

Hines (17-7) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing six hits, no walks and struck out 10.

Gracie Cantley went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs scored, and three RBIs.

Katelyn Stallings added two hits, one run, and one RBI.

Hemker finished with two hits, three runs, and a stolen base.

Hines (18-7) went seven innings allowing one unearned run. She gave up four hits, no walks, and struck out five.
Game Two vs. HFC:

Keira McGarvie had three hits, two doubles, three RBIs, and a run scored.

Hemker, Cantley, and Josie Spencer each recorded two hits.

Mya Martinez (9-2) got the win in relief, tossing four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, walking none and striking out four.
