RECAP: Mott tops Eastern Division with successful 2023 season
FLINT - The Mott Community College volleyball team completed the 2023 season with a record of 18-12 overall and the Bears were 11-1 in the conference. The team finished the season at the top of the Eastern Division standings before falling in the MCCAA semifinals.
In the Great Lakes District B Tournament, the Bears finished with a record of 2-2 with wins over Clarks State College and Lake Michigan College, falling twice to Grand Rapids Community College.
Ruby Earl led the Bears with 317 kills (3.27 k/s), adding 23 total blocks, 310 digs, and a team-high 46 services aces. She was named to the 2023 All-MCCAA Volleyball and NJCAA Region XII Division II All-Region Teams.
Joining Earl on the All-MCCAA and Region XII Teams was Phoenix Stricker, who had 329 digs and 29 service aces.
Montgomery Rotter finished the season with 233 kills and a team-high 345 digs, while Princess Savage added 194 kills and 45 total blocks. Shelbey Keeler recorded a team-high 47 total blocks, adding 148 kills, while Kelsey Cochran added 161 kills and 28 blocks. Brooklynn Wilcox had a strong season with 341 digs.
